Dan Skuta, Former San Francisco 49ers Player - Travel Tips and Tricks

Former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta – who once also played for the San Francisco 49ers – knows the travel experience well, not only due to the extensive traveling he was required to do during his professional football career, but also the many domestic and international trips he continues to take as an entrepreneur, business investor and outdoor recreation enthusiast.

With the San Francisco 49ers before joining Jacksonville, Dan Skuta understands many of the little-known hacks of travel that make the experience easier. Some of these include:

  • Choosing your travel days wisely. While it isn’t always possible to choose when to travel, opting for travel on less popular days of the week (Tues, Weds, etc.) can help you avoid large crowds and potentially save you hundreds in travel costs.
  • Fly early. Early morning flights generally reduce the chances of delay, allowing you to avoid what can be a major travel time annoyance.

Dan Skuta - Fun Facts About the San Francisco 49ers

Former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta played with the 49ers from 2013 to 2014 – playing his role in what was a notable defensive unit and making contributions to the team and the community both on and off the field.

But even though he is no longer with the San Francisco 49ers, Dan Skuta is proud of the opportunity he had to be a part of such a storied franchise – and to have had the experience of playing in front of such a devoted fanbase.

As Skuta knows, many amazing players and moments have been associated with the 49ers franchise over the years, though even the most ardent of 49ers fans may not know that:

  • 49ers legend Roger Craig played briefly with the Oakland Raider (1991) following his San Francisco career.

  • The Niners first playoff appearance occurred in 1957 – an incredible 24 years before the team began its incredible decades-long championship run.

  • Deion Sanders returned three interceptions for TDs during his 49ers career.

Dan Skuta, Former 49ers Linebacker - The Undrafted Free Agent System

Former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta – who previously played with the San Francisco 49ers – began his NFL career as an Undrafted Free Agent (UDFA), someone signed following the end of the 2009 NFL draft.

Initially picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals, Skuta went on to enjoy nine seasons in the league – a career that came to a close with a devastating injury in 2017.

Even though he is officially retired from the game, people have been talking about Dan Skuta and the impact he made on fellow players and teams for years – particularly as a product of the UDFA system.

Skuta is one of many who achieve league longevity in spite of being undrafted; a player signed through a system that:

  • Puts no limits on how many UDFAs any given team can sign.

  • Subjects UDFAs to the same rules and salary structure as drafted players.

  • Allows UDFAs the freedom to “shop around” when it comes to where they’d like to sign and play.
